timming doesn;t change with vac. advance off??

timming doesn;t change with vac. advance off??

ok guys when i go to time my car i will shoot the light on and see the timming then pull off the vacum advance line goin to the carb cause i thought u where supposed to adjst it with it off. well when i pull it off it doesn;t change the timming. is there somthing wrong here?

If your vacuum can is connected to a ported vacuum source then there will be no vacuum to the distributor at idle.
