upgrade vortecs or leave stock?
i am working on my 88 camaro. i was planning on using iron 1.94/1.50 heads and getting a 3 angle valve job. i already have a one without any work done to it yet, and just need to get another. i talked to this guy who sells heads and he could sell me one with all the goodies (magnafluxed, multiangle valve job, polished, and a lot more...) and do all the same to the one i have for $250. im sure its a fair price, but i was thinkin that vortecs just might be better for me. anyway, i was leaning against doing this though since the intake manifolds cost $200+ for vortec heads, but i found some PowerPlus ones for only $128. soooo, anyway i was thinking maybe i should get vortecs. ill probably end up buying them new if i go this route. i was wondering if they need any work done to them like porting or fitting to 2.02/1.60 valves? i heard they are best to leave them how they are, is this true?

I hear there is a site that sells the Vortec intake for $150, not sure if that changes your mind, sorry I can't remember the site.

I wouldnt recommend buying brand new vortecs. With the money you end up spending on them you're better off saving a few more hundred and getting a decent set of aftermarket ones.
I got my Vortecs for pretty cheap and then had screw-in studs and bigger springs installed on them ...giving me a grand total of $480 into the heads (including price of the heads themselves).
From what I've read the heads are almost as good as they can get "out of the box." Porting them and adding larger valves probably isn't worth the effort because the gain will be small (compared to other heads).

These power plus manifold look like exact copies of
the edelbrock vortec manifolds.. though less popular,
makes them cheaper...
