vader , help?

You seem to know a lot more about my 87 t/a then I. Tried to keep my car pretty much factory.[ every day driver up until recently] Car would not pass [nj emiss][2-times] most work i try to do myself [ much better w cars w no O B C] Had buddy check compt for codes nothing abnormal .I 've put in o-2 sensor, cat , vac lines replaced, I herd some where that to check egr [while car is running u dis connect the lead hose and the idle will get erratic] I had my old lady rev the engine up and keep it a one level while I did this and I saw no difference in idle. I already have new egr I'll put in this week [some time] . Other then the trans - everything is new [ tune -up,motor -less than 40,000 -rblt carb. The readings were HC143 ,140 standard[didn't miss much their]NOX 2552 ,standard is 1046, [I was way off] . They say if i get new egr they will pass me , but i want the car to run properly [ when cat was put in my buddy said it was badly blocked] Any help from u would be great . 1 more thing before had work on cat done on my dash on right side bottom [where temp gauge is this little lite would come on sometimes when ] strange go on for less then 1/4 mile then go off only on hwy driving yet no code came up on cmpt don't remember that lite in my old 85T/A .i have a 87t/a 5.0 4 bll.

yep it's always a bad idea to ask for someone by name when all you want is help with a problem. there's always half a chance mark or me could of answered your question, but since we ain't vader we never bothered.

Maybe 1/2 chance with you, only about 1/10th chance of me answering it.
