What the hell do you do with the smog pump?
I plan on replacing my manifolds with some headers, high-flow cat and a cat-back within the next few weeks, and I'm trying to gather some input on the process.
The headers only have the O2 bung, so the A.I.R. has to go. Now I can understand removing the hoses and pipes, but what do I do with the pump on the serpentine set-up?
The other part I don't know what to do with is the wires. Some wires run off into a bigger collection of wires in the direction of the intake manifold.
I'm little bit leary of cutting wires and leaving things unplugged.
Thanks,
-The Gunny

First hand experience here buddy.
There's a tech article on how to run your belt after you remove the pump, as well as the size belt you'll need.
And the wires are only for signals from the ECM to the diverter. The ECM tells the diverter where to send the air, but the ECM does not 'get' any info from the diverter so it'll never know it's gone.
I was a lazy *** and just taped the plugs to the intake manifold somewhere. You can just snip the wires, but make sure you wrap them up so they don't ground out on anything, otherwise 'BYE BYE ECM'.
And you may get an occasional code 32. It's the EGR code, but it won't cause any major problems. I've gotten it once within' the year that I've had the AIR pump off.

i reccomend putting plugs where the metal tubes go into the manifolds until you get your headers........ some just bend em back and they leak...
i was actually lucky enough to be able to use my stock belt.... i just routed it a different way......
