Re-Wiring 1985 IROC Z.... PLZ HELP!

Ok... The owner who had the car before me put in a carbureted engine, which is in it now.... My car came stock with the 305 TPI.. So it was computerized... There is a huge hack job under my hood in the top right corner.... Looks like a birds nest of wires... The guy also did a hack job on the wires going to the alternator, starter, etc.... Does someone have a diagram of the wires I need.. I want to know which wires i "need" to run my carbureted engine..... The wires going to the alternator, where are they coming from? They are all spliced and taped up.. Does all the wiring come from under the dash? I am brand new to wiring but i want to rewire this whole car... There must not be many wires to run a carbureted car.. All i need is my fuel, volts, speedo, oil pressure, engine temp guages, than whutever wires are needed to run the engine... Can someone give me some info... I know I need my negative terminal wire going to an engine ground, and positive goes to the starter, where does the alternator come into play, etc...... Thanks alot....
