My car as still running horribly in gear. I was just thinking if my park/Drive switch to the computer was not working properly, if it would effect the performance of my car. She does run okay in Park, the problem is getting down the road. Any suggestions?

 

i have this same question since i switched to my manual tranny... and its wired to always make the ECM think its in gear. and i think it might be causing a lower idle speed..

 

To the best of my knowledge, the ECU dosent ever know if your in gear or not.

It only cares about load.

 

well i know when i hook up my scan tool. it shows me whether its in gear or P/N. but of course now its always in gear. but ya i don't knwo if the ECM uses that info for anything. i do think i remember seeing something about how it effected it a little. mostly idle i think though..

 

The ecm does use it, changes the idle RPM depending on if its in gear or not. Other than that, I dont know what else it might use it for.

 

wut about manual trannys though?
