The other day I was at work.This guy asks me if my dad has any projects going on.Both my parents are sheet metal workers.And I work at a sheet metal shop.So they all know my parents and my mom works there.Anyway We got to talking about cars.He says he has a 400 small block in a old truck.He says it runs but he doesn't want it though.I asked him how much he wanted for it.he said he would have to think about it.A couple days go by and he says he will sell it for 250 bucks but I have to pull it myself.I got paid wednesday and gave him the money.I went over to his house.We had to put a battery in the truck and spray starting fluid into the carb.It fired up and ran rough. I pulled the motor out in 3 hours.(lack of tools and had to use a chain hoist.major PITA.We put it in his cargo van and unloaded it at my house.



Now I have a 4 bolt main 350 that is just a block and a cast 350 crank with the machine work done.I have another 350 roller motor out of my mom's 96 chevy tahoe.And this 400.I am thinking about building the 400.I also might build a 383 using the 4 bolt main block.I am not sure.I have the vortec heads off the one 350.I couldn't use them on the 400 because of the whole steam holes thing.I wouldn't mind building the other 350 because it is a roller block.Ah the choices.


The motor is going to be in my camaro.Which is just going to be ran on the dragstrip.I am hoping for 13's maybe 12's.I don't have a whole lot of money to spend.


So which motor the 400,383 or 350?

 

Ehhhh......throw it in a go-cart, put some fat meats on it and take it to the beach.
