ignition module functions.... low\high rpms.

am i correct in saying that there is a low\high RPM function for the ignition module? if so when does it switch from one to the other? I am noticing a constant feeling like a missfire or loss of power etc at around 2400 rpms. that last for about 200 rpms or so. most noticable around 1\3 throttle.. its like the car stops acclerating then..

My understanding is that the ICM initially controls the ignition timing at start up, then the ECM takes over the timing.

Last time I had one tested they tested idle, low, and high. But I've never really looked into it. Just pop the bitch out and bring it to the parts store for them to test it.
