This should be illegal...

Look at this auction on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1871061415

"20HP for any car"

What this idoit is really doing is selling a simple resistor for as much as he can get. And the saddest thing is that people have actually bid on it!

In effect, what his 'kit' does is lower the voltage from the IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor, which makes the computer think the incoming air is cooler than it really is, therefore advancing the timing. I think it would be rather funny to buy one, install it on an engine with 10.5:1 compression, run 87 octane gas, and drive to death valley california. Then, when the engine detonates and rips itself apart, sue the shat outta this guy...

Geez, its making my head hurt jsut to read this.. It sounds like an autistic honda civic driver trying to explain electronic engine controls...

"Once the resistor is installed, the ECU will read that the air coming in through the intake is cold air; think of it as a "default" setting on the ECU. When the ECU reads this, it increases the air/fuel mixture—in other words, it will take in more air, and then add more fuel to compensate for the extra air coming in; thus, producing more power and advancing timing 1 to 2 degrees. Because the engine is creating more power, it will need more fuel; so the fuel economy on the car will decrease 1 to 2 miles per gallon (MPG), but definitely not more than 2 MPG. Get rid of that government regulation chip and release the potential of your engine!"

"This mod will not damage your vehicle in any way—it is 100% safe; the resistor connects to your ECU and tells it to take in more air. But, your ECU was designed for your car, and will not let your vehicle do any more than it is capable; so it is impossible for it to damage your car. Keep in mind, any mod that adds horsepower to your car will reduce your gas mileage."

Someone shoot this guy...

he also states that any mod to a car that adds horsepower will also improve gas mileage.....wow!thats impressive.then shouldnt every drag car get like 60 mpg? and every 60 horsepower geo metro get like 8mpg? i wonder what kinda stuff this guys smokin

Complaint : Sent item twice and it was broken both times. Product is a JOKE does NOT work!!!
Response by nitro_racing - Product not shipped broken. All mods are warrantied--could exchange for new one.

Complaint : DO NOT BUY! Totally screwed up my car. Terrible product!
Response by nitro_racing - Contact me if the mod doesnt work. Correct installation is vital for HP increase

Complaint : Doesn't work, don't care if others say it does.
Response by nitro_racing - A common problem is incorrect installation--contact me before you leave feedback

Complaint : I am an ASE cretified mechanic, this guy is selling JUNK. Do not buy.
Response by nitro_racing - Yeah? Then you would know how air/fuel ratios work and that this kit will up HP.
Follow-up by ranjd - Leaning the mixture produces power/HP! Not richening you fool! You are scamming!

Complaint : Watch what you buy from this guy he sells worthless JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Response by nitro_racing - Did you even install it? 60+ other people did, and they found it does work....

Complaint : PAID IN FULL next day, got the product and its WORTHLESS! IT DOES NOTHING AT ALL
Response by nitro_racing - No one else is having problems--you probably installed it wrong.

Complaint : Sold me a piece of crap resistor from Radio Shack CHEAT and LIAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Response by nitro_racing - How can you say that? I don't think you paid, so you never even got a kit....

LOL this guy is as bad as AOL Tech Support!

caveat emptor....let the buyer beware. One of these days people are gonna realize that nothing worthwhile is easy. If you want to make horsepower, you gotta put in the wrench time.

There's a guy on camaroz28.com that's trying to get a bunch of people to complain to Ebay about these idiots.

The problem is... who's the idiot? The seller or the buyers?

When I was in the Navy, we used to send guys out looking for "water line"
for hours...

This guy is a scam artist...and making some money. The problem is that Ebay is only a forum for people to sell things, they aren't actually responsible for what is stolen..I mean sold on the site. So they're making out too.

I got plenty of muffler bearings & headlight fluid, but where can I go to get an alternator flush & fill?

Seriously though, I love how there's a huge list of complaints about that guy's product, and he writes as his one response "No one else is having problems." Whatever you say, buddy.

I've been working on this new product that makes LOADS of horsepower. It's called "the unubtainium piston return springs". They help push your pistons around and make power .
I wonder how these guys sleep at night. What upsets me even more is that they DO sleep fine at night because they've got $$$ from idiots. I'd love to get a hold of this guy and make him cry for his crime but this is not my job. My job is to worry about myself and not the other idiots on the road.

OMG! I was under the impression that the only thing that told my engine to take in more air is my lead filled right foot! Hey! I think I'm on to something! Attach my new lead weight mod to your right shoe and get to WOT faster! Sold by the oz. so you can fine tune the performance you need.

Lets have some fun...

"All vehicles have an Electronic Control Unit (ECU)—a computer chip that electronically manages and monitors your car's performance—that is made according to government regulations. That means that your car could be going a lot faster and getting more power if you replace the ECU. A racing "Piggyback" (this means it connects to your exsisting ECU) ECU upgrade can cost over $500 (Jet Chips, Venom 400 chips) and a ECU replacement can cost up to $2000 (HKS, A'pexi, AEM)! It really isn’t worth that much money. This mod is a fraction of the cost of those expensive ECU upgrades, and can do the same exact thing! "

Really..a 10 cent resistor has greater ability than a ECM..

"When the ECU reads this, it increases the air/fuel mixture—in other words, it will take in more air, and then add more fuel to compensate for the extra air coming in; thus, producing more power and advancing timing 1 to 2 degrees."

Interesting, a resistor can increase the amount of air an engine can injest... must be a supercharged resister.

"Because the engine is creating more power, it will need more fuel; so the fuel economy on the car will decrease 1 to 2 miles per gallon (MPG), but definitely not more than 2 MPG. Get rid of that government regulation chip and release the potential of your engine! "

Yeah its running pig rich... lets wash those rings.

And now this magic resistor can reprogram the EPROM..

"This is a great mod for any car, and can definitely boost your engine up to 15-20 hp (power increases differ from car to car—i.e. Sports Coupe vs. Family Wagon). Watch your ¼ mile times increase a few tenths of a second or more, so you can beat that car you’re racing. "

This already been pointed out...

"This mod will not void your warranty; if you are worried about you car not passing inspection, you can easily remove the mod just as fast as you can reinstall it. This mod will not damage your vehicle in any way—it is 100% safe; the resistor connects to your ECU and tells it to take in more air. But, your ECU was designed for your car, and will not let your vehicle do any more than it is capable; so it is impossible for it to damage your car."

Yeah I'm sure the dealer won't mind ignoring the missing IAT when you bring it in for service..

Shame that EBay doesn't have a policy against outright fraud. But like the electric superchargers, or for those that have watercraft, bilge blowers. EBay just want the listing/sale fee.

Sad but true..
