How do I get the motor to go into total advance?

This is a 92 305 TBI that I swapped into a 87 Camaro. After the swap I wanted to set the timing and I unplugged the connector on the pass. side by the blower motor and set the timing to 6 degrees advance which is what I think the factory setting is. Now when I disconnected the battery and reconnected the connector the motor isn't going into total advance it just stays at the 6 degrees base timing I set. Why is this? It used to go into total advance and now all of sudden it just stays at 6 degrees. Oh and I let the battery stay disconnected all night.

Thanks

sounds like the est is working it should change the timing when you plug the connector back in, and unhook the battery.

Well thats exactly what it isn't doing. The motor is just staying at base timing and not going into full advance even with the connector plugged in and the battery was disconnected for awhile. With the connector plugged in shouldn't the timing light show something like 24 degrees advance instead of the same 6 degrees like when the connector was unplugged?
