clutch spring making sound

clutch spring making sound

everytime i let up on the clutch pedal it makes a sound. so i guess it has to be changed. so how would i go about changing it?
can i do it myself?

What kind of sound? Where is it coming from? Has it changed (suddenly appeared or got worse), or has it been making it for a long time?

More likely a throw out bearing and/or release arm than a spring, but anything is possible. In either case, the transmission has to be removed. that requires removal of the driveshaft, center crossmember, shift and clutch linkages, VSS wiring, torque arm mounting, then the transmission. Once the transmission is out you can inspect the throw out bearing and release mechanism without removing anything else, and should find the noisy little devil, whatever it is.

That, of course, all depends upon whther the noise is from inside the car or under the car.

it only started the other morning but it has been wet out for a couple of days. it seems to have stopped for now. but it seems like such a pain to remove all that stuff.
