can a 305 v8 car handle a 350?

hey guys, i am in the proces of buying another camaro. I am gonna buy a v8 and put a brand new 350 v8 in. Does anyone know if i can put a 350 v8 in a 305 with any problems? Like what kinds of things will i have to change? And if i end up getting a 305 v8 manual will it be a problem after putting the 350 v8 in? Thanks for your help guys, i apreciate any input.

You wont have to change much of anything. SBC is a SBC. Your intake, heads, cam, distributer from the 305 will work on a 350.
Stock tranny and rear will be fine unless you put a very high torque/hp 350 in but if its a mild street car everything will be fine.

And if you have a camaro manual for a 305 car is will essentially be the same as the 350 except for some torque specs and clearance stuff *maybe* im not positive about that,

BTW I have done this swap its simple dont even have to change motor mounts unless you want to.

Don't forget , I didn't look at what yr your car was. But let's say you have an '86. Well, I do too and when I got my 350, it was a pre '86 block, so I had to get a different flywheel, no biggie though.

It's so common that Chevrolet used to offer that HO 350 conversion. Scoggin-Dickey had one (and only one) of those packages available as of last week.

While all of that stuff will work, I would not reccomend using 305 heads on a 350. Your compression will rise, but the airflow on 305 heads is barely enough to support the 305. You'll be choking the **** out of a 350. You never want to reuse a hydraulic cam, but if you've got a good aftermarket roller cam, or for whatever reason you want to reuse the extremely-mild 305 roller cam, I suppose you could do that.

Anyway, if you do a search you'll find all the info you need. 305 to 350 swaps have been done a million times, and whether you're doing carb-carb, tpi-tpi, tpi-carb or carb-tpi, you'll find all the info that you'll ever need by doing a search.

If it's standard...

the 5 speed transmission that was mated to 305s was pretty weak... don't be trying to get crazy power out of your 350 unless you're interested in in replacing the tranny too. (whether you want to or not, if u know what i mean)
