Hi All
First I must say I think this is a great site. I've been lurking for a few days now and I like all of the valuable info this site contains.
Now on to my question. I am putting a 350 engine in my 87 Camaro RS. I would like to get rid of all of the computer crap and go back to the days in the 70"s with a dual point distributer, coil, carb and 6 inches of vac hoses instead of a mile of them. Will I run into any added problems by eliminating all of the computer crap? I plan on keeping the electric cooling fan but I will control it with a temp control switch. What do you all think? Thanks in advance for your input.

Welcome to the board. u will also lose your transmission abilty to have the TC to look up, but you can buy a kit to fix this, or you can find a tech article on how to make one yourself. you will also lose cruise control. i think that is about it.

I did this...went from a 305 TBI to a 350 carbed with HEI.

You will loose cruise control but oh well. My fan swtill works like it used to. Just leave the computer hooked up and some of the wiring harness. Leave the fan switch sensor in the pass side head and the fan will still kick on like it always did. Id get a lower temp fan switch tho.

I like the carb setup...starts up easier than the TBI did and runs better. Have to let it warm up just alittle now because its getting REALLY cold but it will still run fine.
