roller lifter question

When I removed my lifters I put them all in baggies with there location marked on the baggie so that they would be installed where they came out.One thing I did not pay attention to,until I had them all out ,was this small oil passage.Does it have to be facing the way it came out?,and if so does anyone know wich dirrection this is?It can only be one of two different ways beacause of the fact that the lifters dont turn when installed.Maybe it don't even matter,I don't know. Thanks for any help!

Doesn't matter, as long as the lifter engages the spider properly.

Thanks for the reply.I didn't figure it mattered much since no one mentions this when discussing roller cam swaps.I am going to use the assembly lube for the cam that came with it,with the lifters,do I just dip them in some oil before I put them in?

I heard you're NOT supposed to use assembly lube with roller cam engines, just oil. Maybe this only has to do with applications using the LT1 cams, I don't know. Better look into it though.

I used lube on my roller cam for added protection. 5,000 miles later still good

A bottle of lube came in the box with my roller cam.I don't know if it's the same thing as assembly lube, but it is definitley to be used when installing the cam.It stays on the cam as oil will run off.

It's probably smart to use the lube on the journals that ride the cam bearings.

It won't hurt to put it on the lobes. It would only help, or do nothing.

Another place to use it is in the lifter bores. It takes a little while for the oil pump to get oil in that area.

It does say in the instructions that came with my roller cam to not use assembly lube. The bottle of lube that came with it is to be poured in with the oil.I just soaked mine with oil like it said, and put some assembly lube on the distributor gear, per the instructions.
