edel. performer manifold

I have and edelbrock performer manifold for the "old style" pre-86 heads. I'd like to put that manifold on my 91z 305 then put the motor in my truck so i can put my new motor in my car. So, is it possible to convert that manifold to accept the new style heads of the 305? Or would it be easier to find a used manifold that fits properly?

From my knowledge it's possible, but you'll have to do a little fabrication to the bolt holes on the intake, like drilling them straight down, maybe someone who has done it can explain.

Just the center bolts are different. Im pretty sure you can drill them out to make them work.

i did the same thing but an 87+ manifold on old heads. it took a lot of grinding the holes out to where the bolts go. you also need to cut the part where the bolt seats to so its flat. i ground it out with a drill bit then a grinding stone to clean it out and had the machine shop cut it so its flat.

5 minutes with a Die grinder is all it will take.

Is it a fool proof modification?? Ill probably have to make my 87+ work with 86 and older this summer when I swap heads.
