I don't know if their all different but I have a vac. advance HEI distributor that is stock and I was wondering how much mechanical + vaccuum advance they pull... err maybe I should say, what kinda timing should I get out of it?

You have a computer control ignition/fuel system. It's kind of a transition from carb to fuel injection, and not as good for performance as either. They are reliable though.

Read the sig.. I took out the ccqjet and distrib. a while ago.... in place is a holley 600 and an accell distributor.. I have another hei distrib (stock gm, vaccuum adv.) and was wondering what the stock #;s on it were

You can get way more timming out of the distributor than a sbc needs. I like the crane cams kit, comes with an ajustable vaccum diaphram, weights, springs, and limiter. Haven't used one on a sbc in a long time, but when I did my 400 Pontiac a couple years ago I had to limit the amount of advance to 34*. If yours isn't worn out, they're decent pieces.
