I, like most people here, am on a strict budget. I have a '91 RS L03 that I want to make run better and be a little quicker. Due to limited funds I was considering putting in an LT1 cam.

My question: Is this cam a "bolt on" deal? I get the impression that it is but don't know what all is involved. I cannot afford to do a valve job or any thing else at this point so any help would be appreciated.

Also will any LT1 cam work? Vette, Caprice, etc.?

Do a search, this has been covered 50 times this year. The cam is a direct bolt it once you shorten the dowel pin in the front so it doesn't grind your timing cover. Depending on which one, you may need better valve springs. Vader will post his pic of all the LT1/LT4 cam specs soon, or someone else who got it from one of his posts

 

Regardless of which cam you install, you always need better valve springs. Heck, even with the LB9's "LA" cam (LameAss cam) you need better valve springs. Studs are always a good idea, as well as new retainers. Whatever you do, trash the exhaust valve rotators if you can. It's just nnecessary mass in the valve train.

The installation is pretty straightforward with no special surprises, unless you expect there to be a fuel pump lobe.
