Max RPMs
Max RPMs
I am rebuilding a 305 currently with a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Hydraulic Roller (HR270), 9.6:1 Flat top hyperutetic pistons, new crank (stock), and I am planning on using S/R Torquer heads from World castings. Also I will be using a new aftermarket distributor.
Using the recommend Xtreme energy valvetrain components what will be the engines Max RPM / Redline? Same as before or more?

It will be much more than before because you aren't going to run into valve float nearly as early as you do with the weak stockers. Whats going to limit you now is the strength of your bottom end. The valve train you have now should be able to hold up to enough rpm to stick a connecting rod right through the side of your block. I wouldn't take it above 6200. On that note, you might want to choose a slightly milder cam. I also think the cams you have in mind are maybe a little too much for a stock replacement type head. Torquers are good for the money and they are outflow stock (hard not to be), but there are better heads out there......

You might not even have to go aftermarket. What castings are those stock heads on your 305? If they're 416 or 081's, if you put some bigger valves and port them, they'll flow right up there with most aftermarket heads. Other good GM castings are the aluminum L98's and the vortecs (however you will need a special intake for it). There are a ton of other heads that will work. Go to jegs or summit and check out what they have to offer just make sure you don't go overboard with the selection (ie trick flows, AFrs, etc) since those are better suited to a 350.
