LT1 questions

In what year did the LT1 get a long pin in the camshaft?
Thanks,
Brady

I believe all the LT-1/ LT-4/ gen II style motors use this "long pin" camshaft.

F-Bird is correct. They all have a somewhat longer pin than the old style SBC engines. The '92-'93 model engines were only slightly longer than the "standard" SBC-Gen I configuration. These cams also had a smaller, tapered hole in the front end of the blank to center the distributor drive. In 1993 (for the 1994 model year), the "long" pin was made even longer, and the distributor drive centering hole was enlarged to accomodate the change in the OptiSpark distributor drive on four-bolt main (Corvette) and iron-headed engines. This change supposedly didn't appear on the 'F' cars until the following year. So I guess the replies are all correct in some respects.

Incidentally, any 256-inch engine from this family has the longer dowel and larger hole, even though it is technically an L99 instead of an LT1.

EDIT: I meant to say "265-inch engine", not "256-inch engine".

your right vader, i should have pointed out that the b and y body had the vented opti starting in 94 and the f body in 95.
