CFI to TBI I need some help?

I just ran into a huge problem. I have an 82 Camaro with a 305 CFI and the motor blew up. So recently i have just bought a 88 Chevy 305 and rebuilt it and everything and the CFI intake will not fit to it. So now i am forced to use the TBI that came with it. So i need some help on how to do this? Thanks.

Benny,

The difference is probably in the center bolts of the intake runner sets, correct? If you really wanted to, you might be able to elongate the center hole in the runner sets to align the bolts with the later style heads.

If you cannot or opt not to do that, you'll need to do a little rewiring of the injector harness to connect your TBI injectors. The real difficulty may be in the calibration of the EPROM, since the flow rates of the CFI injectors may be different than those from the TBI.

You'll probably want to research that a little before you decide which route to take. The rest of the engine management can be adapted to your older ECM/harness, but you may have some incompatibility in the wiring harness connectors from your old style harness and the newer style sensors.

This would be a good time to trash the TBI for good and toss a carb on there. But if you don't want to go that route, look into the x-ram. Its an aftermarket CFI intake, although i don't know if those fit 87-up heads.
