I can easily smoke the tires (tire actually, lol). The 85 LG4 is rated at 155hp, 245 lb/ft. It runs great and has proven to be a very reliable engine. Mines pretty much all stock.

LG4 with 700r4 and 3.73 is very zippy ! you'd be happy with performance of the car with an LG4 if its in good mechanical shape, LG4 were instaleld in a TON of 80's caprices and some other models of GM cars, ive had a bunch of them and a really good strong runnign one in the 83 caprice currently

The general consensus on this board is that if the 305 shortblock is in good shape (doesn't need rings or bearings) then it is well worthwhile building up. Just make sure to use parts that will work well on a 350 when the 305 bites it. That way you haven't wasted any money.

Headers and a good exhaust are the best thing to do first. Good for at least 30 hp on an LG4. Then tune the carb according to the Tech Article on this site. Save the cam, heads and intake for last, as they can best be done all at once.

Follow the parts in my sig for a 300 hp LG4
