89 2.8 stalling
89 2.8 stalling
my 89 2.8 mpfi automatic firebird stalls. i think its because the rpms are very low when im in gear on the break.... or just in park...it sometimes does it when im shifting into or out of reverse. what can i do? and it dose not matter how lonmg the engine has been running for. i raised the idle and that didnt work, i was thinking its the torque converter, ill disconnect that and see what happens, i hooked up a computer to my car and it ran fine, but once i unpluged it it started to stall again, i took it for a drive with the computer and it had no problems....please help

when you plug the scanner into the older systems they tell the IAC to raise idle 1000. if you have a scanner on it what are the iac counts? tps volts, is it missing at idle ? have you cleaned the throttle body , they get coated with build-up and need to be cleaned with a good carb cleaner. is the EGR valve sticking open . there is a mini air filter on the back of the egr solnoid that clogs and with it pluged it will pull the egr open at idle. hope this helps more than confuses .
