intake question
I wanted to make a new intake on my car, and I had a question. I read all the tech articles about it, but I was wondering how this will affect my car's performance? I just want to use PVC for now(until I can get some pipe welded) to run from a K&N cone filter to the throttle body. Is it ok to have just straight PVC or do I need some sort of air regulator in there for some reason? Oh, and I just had to have a cat put on my car(for emissions) because it didn't have one before. It's much quieter now, and doesn't seem to pull as hard. However, the guy who put it in said that it shouldn't have any affect on my power. This isn't true is it? Thanks.

I don't know why that wouldn't work. But i would use something like dryer vent tube, or pipe. I think it would work better.

I found a bendable hose in summit that's stainless steel. Would this work? It's bendable so that would eliminate buying multiple peices. I'm not sure what the diameter is, I think I may try this.

Advance Auto and AutoZone both have nice black rectangular flexible hose in the section where one would find a pre-heater hose for the snorkel. Not sure if it would do what you want, but I'm using it for a dual-snorkel set-up in my 90 RS 305. It's relatively cheap, flexible like dryer hose, but firmer so it won't cave in, and about 3" x 2" rectangular. They also have round if I remember.
Also, the gutter section at Home Depot has many different cool fittings and such for guttering (like adapters to change from 3 or 4 inch round to 2 x 3 inch rectangular), all in plastic and aluminum.
