rockers for LG4
The coming new year I plan on puting a high flow exhuast on my LG4. Should I use 1.5 or 1.6 long slot rockers? 3/8 or 7/16/? Parts numbers would be helpfull. Probally can't do the job myself because of adjusting I know nothing about. I plan on putting on putting in cam later. Can I get a few horses from rockers change.

Chad, if you're still running the original LG-4 cam then you might as well get a little extra lift from 1.6 rockers. You need them for 3/8" rocker studs. Long slots aren't necessary. Your rocker studs are pressed into the heads so they are not replacable with screw-in type unless you pull off the heads and have them reworked (which isn't worth the effort).
One gotcha- the 87 LG-4s used the later-style centerbolt valve cover heads that use self aligning rockers. If you have centerbolt heads you will need self-aligning rockers.
Install is as easy as unbolting the old rockers, dropping on the new ones, and readjusting the valves. There are a number of ways to adjust valves that are easy to do in your driveway. you should try it yourself. If you screw up you'll know it as soon as you try to start it. You really don't stand much chance of actually breaking parts- it'll just not run right. So screwing up doen't mean disaster- pull the covers and try again.
