I'm making a cold air intake out of PVC for now, and I was wondering what the smog canister is. I read in the tech article that I have to relocate, but I don't know what it is. Do I need it, or can I get rid of it?

 

It's the black coffie can looking thing in the forward engine compartment on the side of the radiator oppiside the batt.(the batt. was on diffrent sides depending in the engine) mine's been disconnected for years but it defeates some of the emmisions so you wont pass a smog test, and if you do disconnect oy make sure you block off the vacume lines.
