if i thought my oil need a little "extra something" i'd be looking for another oil and not an additive.

Good point....but I'm assuming some of you have seen the little demonstration at O'reilly's - the little gears that you turn and see the difference in the two oils....looks impressive, but I'm not sure what that would mean in an engine, ya know?

a while ago i was looking for info on whether engine additives did anything...i found out that most people think they are crap and only colored water, etc...in fact some are being sued byt the federal trade commision for false advertising if u dont know this already...but the only additive that people have claimed to really get results from and use is lucas so...if ur gonna use one, use lucas...the most important thing is using a good oil like mobil 1, etc

I used Lucas Oil Stabilizer in my '84 Cherokee 2.8L V-6 two years ago. It had a lifter tapping at times. A week after I added Lucas, it stopped and stayed stopped even after several oil changes without additional Lucas.
