Pulling the LT1 out
this isn't about a thirdgen but is thirdgen related since some people put LT1's in their thirdgen's
. ok i'm gonna be pulling the LT1 out of my 94' Formy. i'm gonna be taking it out from the top and not the bottom of the car. where can i attach the chain(s) to so i can safely remove the engine. the heads? will the support the weight? i just a little paranoid when it comes to this damn engine. i don't wanna screw anything else up.
can anyone give some tips? thanks.

Using the intake manifold bolts (one per head, opposite ends of the engine) will hold the weight just fine. My main problem with aluminun heads happens when I bolt the eyelet or chain to the head and then it twist around when weight is put on it- digging a nice divot into the intake mating surface. Just make sure it can't squirm around and work against the head. Don't try to use a rocker stud to lift an engine. Also, there are often bolt holes on the fronts and backs of most chevy heads that make ideal places to screw a bolt into and lift against (although getting to the back of the LT-1 while in the Formula is going to be challenging).
