A header install on IROC, WTF?

Alright, here is the thing-

I have removed the factory exhaust manifolds from my 86 IROC to replace with a set of hooker shorties. The story gets interesting when I remove the passenger side oil dipstick, which is held by the manifold bolt, right? Well, the result is that the dipstick tube will stand loose with the headers, what do I do to secure it? What have other people done
Thanks-
Ben

mine has an adapter that is bolted around one of the hearder tubes. I will have to look at it and see exactly how and see if I can get a picture of it.

mine are slp but they had a little sleeve that you put a bolt through to secure the dipstick. btw did you have any problems with the drivers side hitting the steering column? i know i did.

Replies are good-

first of all thanks for the replies. I have come to the conclusion that I will weld something custom to be bolted with the header. The headers do fit on the passenger side, barely!, the only thing was that the O2 sensor fitting had to be installed properly and the Y pipe had to be custom made.
Do I run the risk of the tube falling out if it is not secured?
One person said the plug wires help...I am just so nervious when I set it flop around, ya know?
Thanks, Ben

Another option is to pay out the a$$ for a Lokar dipstick that bolts up using one of the header bolts. That's what I had to do due to running Hooker Long Tubes.

This isn't a great picture of the dipstick but you get the idea ...

PN is ED-5001. Around $50 from Summit.

thanks-

Yeah......that surely is one option, I will try to fabricate one from scratch.....that will be my last ditch effort. It sure does brighten the engine. The Hooker shorties fit fine next to the steering column also.....just a lot of custom y pipe work had to be done.
Thanks guys-
Ben
