Got a free 350! what should i do to get 400+hp
Yestarday at a friends house this girls uncle gave me a 350 that was line bored honed, ect, it is appart and has brand new crank ,con rods, and pistons. It also has a used intake and 4 barrel carb. he said it was taking up space, and he had 1500$ into it. I am going to build this engine this spring until i graduate in june and get my t56 convertion underway. I was wondering if anyone had some dyno # or a combonation that would produce 400+ hp with ported vortec heads. I am going to dump the 305 and use some stuff from it for the 350
thanks

Everybody has that combo. It's a complete no-brainer.
It's the Comp XE268, a Performer RPM intake, and a 75 Holley carb, and 1¾" headers.
Make sure you upgrade the valve springs in the heads, and use good rockers (don't have to be 1.6s), I'd recommend the Comp 13 series. 1317 IIRC.

Umm, what year is the case? (I am curious if it is a one-piece, a roller cam, etc.)
EDIT: If the main bearings were align BORED correctly, everything should be "normal".
If the mains were align HONED, chances are you'll need a custom timing set and have to keep tabs on the deck height and piston TDC position.
A good machinist will indicate the true crank centerline and bore accordingly, making the deck height and center distance on the TC all original after installing the oversized main shells. Align honing doesn't often recreate the true crank centerline, so the deck height and center distance of the TC will usually be shorter. It isn't a major problem either way, just something to be aware of.

I think a 75 would work just fine! As long as you don't plan on doing more than 10 mph. It'd make an interesting go kart! Funny part is...I saw a Ford Truck at a car show a few months back...an old one..had a flathead motor with a single barrel carb...probably about a 75! I got a good laugh out of that... The thing wasn't big enough to fit a golf ball in...maybe the size of a quarter.
