I think they're remade now with adjustable stacks. I recall some guys used to have different length stacks for tuning, not sure if there was actually a way to determine length, etc, or just a wives tale.

Nothing better than seeing a chopped '34 Ford with the hood sides up and a Hilborn on top of the engine.

The different length stacks was mostly to make the total intake tract length the same for all cylinders, and to tune it for the desired RPM range.... the big block version needed a good bit of that. The small block one isn't so much of an issue.

It's a really, really old, crude, race-only system. I doubt anybody would win any races in any class that allowed it, since FI has come so far since then; but if you look at racing footage from the 60s and 70s you'll see lots of them. Like 8Mike9 says they're still popular on street rods, just for their looks; that just looks fast, even when it's just sitting there on top of a motor. But its days as a competitive piece are long gone.
