Roller lifter/engine assembly question...
I have a new set of Comp roller lifters. They say not to wait too long before engine start-up after you install them. I assume this is because the oil will run off the roller and it will be dry on start-up.
Is there anything else I can use (like lithium grease) on the roller? I'm still fabricating my valve cover and my A/C compressor relocation bracket. It would be great if I could get the engine together now. I'm just sittin around waiting for the valve cover to come back from the welding shop.

It's because the oil in the chamber will all leak out, and they will clatter at startup for a little while.
Other than that, it's no big deal.
I usually just use motor oil on roller cams for build-up lube.
