stock manifold vs edelbrock manifold
stock manifold vs edelbrock manifold
i have a problem... ih ave absolutely no clearance between the top of my air cleaner and my hood. i mean 0!!! thers a dent in the top of my hood because i closed it once and the wing nut made a nice lil ding. i cut the top of the wing nut off and its still touching... anyway right now i have the stock 305 manifold in an 83 camaro, edelbrock carb, carb to manifold adapter, and a carb to air cleaner spacer. with this new manifold will i finally have clearance? i think i'll be able to take out the adapter between the manifold and carb so that would give me an inch and a half or am i wrong? thanks alot... ohya, how many horsies should i expect to gain from this new performer series manifold? thanks

If you're going with the regular Performer intake and not the Performer RPM then I guarantee that you'll have more than enough hood clearance by ditching the adapter plate. Edelbrock's info states it is 'stock height' - it's within less than 1/4 inch of the production intakes.
No guesses from me as to how much HP you'll gain from the intake...

15ish HP, maybe a little more if you have the exhaust modded a bit as well. You should be able to fit a performer pretty easily. I have a Performer RPM under my 87Z's hood (with a drop base aircleaner). I do have a Holley carb, I'm assuming the carbs are roughly the same height...
