Cruis control question
Cruis control question
I have a 91 Z TPI with a T-5 and over last winter i pulled my engine and rebuilt it. I put everything back where it belongs(THAT I CAN THINK OF
) and now my cruise control doesn't work. What kind of things can i test or do to see what the problem is? I know i have no fuses blown and i don't know much about cruise control so if you tell me to test something cruise control related under the hood, try to explain really good and a pic would also help, thanks

pull it off all together, cruise control is for pretty cars, our cars are fun cars, you can't have fun without your fut on the gas and kickin ***...
I'm not sure if you have a digital electronic or vacuum servo unit on your '91. Right around that time, they were changing.
Is there a vacuum line at the cruise servo, or only wires to a rectangular box that the throttle cable connects to? If the throttle cable connects to a rubber diaphragm (vacuum servo) you have a vacuum type.
Which is it?

Hey Vader..what if you have the throttle cable going into a rectangular box with a vacuum line on the opposite side? Just curious what the name of that type is... Mine doesn't work..cable is shot....as if I care anyways!
91: I assume yours is the same as mine..check the vacuum line and check the throttle cable. Mine has a buttload of slack at the throttle blade...doesn't recede like it should, which keeps it from working properly.

If your hoses are good I would say that your servo is shot. You will need to replace it as I know of no way to repair it. I could be wrong on that point. I am fairly certain that your problem lies with the servo however.

Vader, i have a vaccume type, i checked the cable and it is fine, where is the servo and how do i check to see if it is bad? I am pretty sure it isn't the cruise switch. And about the vaccume line, i took my engine out over last winter and i am not sure i hooked the vaccume line up to the right place, can you tell me where the lines connect? I don't have the original hood so i can't look there. thanks
