ticking sound
i have this problem,when i start the car,(5.7L gta) i here this ticking comming from in between the engine and tranny,when it idles you can here it ticking,when i start to drive it, it goes away,but when i come to a stop, it begins again,i have checked to see where it could be hitting but i don't see it hitting nothing,and it can't be hiting the starter so what do you guys think?GM HOMBRE.

i had the same thing happen to my old 350 after the rebuild i did. i never put new rings in it and they were worn so much that the actual piston itself would slap the cylinder walls and did exactly what u were stating. my dad said they call it piston slap. i didnt know so i took his advice since he was a mechaninc for 11 years. i would start looking towards a collasped lifter in the back of the block before tearing it down to find out its not piston slap.
