Stubborn bolts on air injection system.

Im trying to remove the air injection system from my car. I have the driver side completley off. It took a long time but I finally got the bolts off. The passenger side is being really stubborn though. The flange bolts into the exhaust manifold wont budge. They just round. I was thinking of either penetrating oil. or if that doesnt work maybe cutting off the tubing and getting a socket on it. Anyone have suggestiongs?

That's EXACTLY what I did. I had no plans to ever put that stuff back on, so out came the hacksaw

If there's any sort of grip left on the heads of the fittings, try giving them a little nudge to tighten them, then loosen them. IIRC, they're brass (soft metal) and should easily come out once the 'rusty seal' to the cast iron has been broken. This should give you a head start on breaking them loose.

Oh yea...

If you can be VERY CAREFUL, you can start the car and let it run for a wee bit. The heat will also help them break free.

If you're smart you'll wear thick leather gloves.

I don't know if the last post was necessarily good advice - mine softened up when the car was warmed up and they rounded - made it almost impossible to get them out.
