How much Vacuum should I have?
I have a 305 bored over 30 witha street dominator intake dual plane and a cam with the following specsDuration @.050 intake is 214 and the exhaust is 224 the lift is .442 in and .465 exh with a lobe sep of 112 I have the timing advanced at 10 with a 750 idle I am pulling around 14 on the vac guage. Does this sound about right? or, should I worry about vac and brakeing

Yes that sounds pretty close. I run the HOT CAM and I get 12" of vac at idle. Make sure you check the Vac with the motor warm. Are you using a carb or EFI? If you are using a carb you can mess with the idle air screws and bring in a little more Vac. to get the tuning correct.

Thanks for the reply Brian, I guess I was expecting a little more but I havent really had a problem with it so far. I think the cam will be ok. I guess it might be a little on the big side for a 305 but it moves out ok with the ported heads and headers.

I have a 305 in my TPI car and a 355 in my RS www.geocities.com/feltsb and there is noting I love more than FAST 305. I know what everybody says about "just get a 350" but the look when a 305 tromps people is just priceless. Keep with it. Let me know if I can be of any help.
