Gear drive and knock sensor
I've heard that gear drives (i.e. Pete Jackson's) will cause havoc with the knock sensor. Anyone run into this problem. If it does, is there a fix or mod that will fool the sensor?
Many thanks in advance.

I've heard the same, however, upon reading this board one day, I ran across the more knowledgable kind of guy , who said it won't do anything bad at all to the knock sensor. I forget who it was , I want to say RB, Ed Maher, or ede, someone like that.
i suspose there's a chance it'll pick up the noise as knock, but don't count on it, or in other words you should be fine running the gear drive and reducing the HP output of your engine for some "cool gear drive whine". you can wrap the senser with teflon tape to reduce the sensitivity or run a resister in line, but i don't know, or recall, which one.

Who cares
ede, you read too much into the question. A stock 92 RS 5.0 with HP loss? Please. It needs HP before it can lose it.
I'm putting the stock engine back together and have a gear drive for that application. I didn't ask for opinions on HP, I asked for opinions about the potential of the knock sensor picking up the whine. I'm not after the "cool gear drive whine" and could really care less about HP loss in a daily driven car.
Besides, if I want "cool gear drive whine", I'll drive my Milodon gear driven, 383/475, 78 Z-28....
