distributer firing order

distributer firing order

any one know how to figure out my firing order for my distributer??.....i forgot to number them before unplugging my spark plug wires..it has the firing order on the book but thats not all i need to do...i know.. that was a rookie move..please help.
suggestions and ideas are greatly appreciated.

If you look at the distributor cap from above, of the two terminals facing the front of the car, the #1 terminal will be the one on the driver's side. The order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2,,,going clockwise.

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
#1 can be anywhere on the distributor.

Pull the #1 spark plug. Plug the hole with a thumb or back end of a screwdriver. Bump the engine over until #1 is at TDC. The compressed air will try to push out. Check the timing mark to be sure. Pull the distributor cap off and see where the rotor is pointing. That's where the #1 plug should be on the cap.

Yeah true. If the distributor was pulled before #1 could've been left at a different position.
