Question about vibration damper

I have the damper out to replace the oil seal. So far everything's going without problems. I have a question though. I noticed that the damper has about a half inch thick amout of RTV at the end of that guide slot. I'm guessing someone previously put the RTV in the slot and then installed it, to make sure there were no leaks. Would this dry silicone cause a vibration at all that could be felt inside the car?? Probably not but I'm wondering cuz my motor has had this slight vibration starting at about 2500 RPM and I have no idea what it could be so I just thought I'd ask. Thanks.

theres nothing in a stock one to leak, unless its an aftermarket fluidampner ?

end slot ? you mean the keyway for the crankspline ?

Yes, that keyway. And I have the stock damper with the rubber in it. Apparently before installing someone put RTV in the slot. I have no idea why. Like I said my guess would be to just be sure it doesn't leak. But would this lil bit of dry silicone cause a slight vibration?

Yes that silicone is there to prevent oil from seeping out of the keyway slot, GM puts a dab in the groove before installing the damper and so do i. It will not cause a balance problem.
