problems ('91 firebird v6)

heya guys... hope you guys can help...

around x-mas i decided to take my car to vegas, i checked everything, added some water to the res. then left at 4am (freezing outside). i made it about an hour an 20mins and my temp gauge goes nuts. so i pull over let it cool down, restarted and made it to victorville. then it again overheated, so i have it towed to this small shop. they said i might have broken a head (added water to radiator, bubbles).... so i leave it over night. they said one of the heads and a piston was cracked. (like a small indention on the piston) they also said i had a bad water pump, thermostat, and for some reason the radiator fan wasn't spinning. so i throw down like 1300 to fix all the problems... they fix it and say i have to replace another head and 3 piston rings, another 200bucks... so they suposably fixed it all. i pick it up, wont start... said i need to replace the cat. converter, computer, check fuel injectors... i give it some gas and starts up... so i test it, feels okay, sounds a bit rougher but okay... since it was sitting at that shop for 3 weeks, i just wanted it back. slowly i noticed the oil pressure seem to reach up to the '80' mark, at that i cant get any more power from accelerating... but after a while when the engine gets warmer, it sits inbetween 40-60 and everything seems good...

heres the other problems...
- car has problems with a warm start (like turn it off then on 10mins later, no start unless i give gas - cold starts are okay)
- mechanic said thermostat cant be hooked up because the fan wont work (short?) so now its not hooked up...
- said computer is bad (is that the ecm?)
- few days ago i noticed lights flickering. everything is okay when i hit the accelerator, even the headlights, no gas = low light (grounding maybe?) -- tonight i get a red light (the one that goes on when you start the car) and a weird buzz noise, like a elect. spike...

i want to get a new car but i dont have the cash, i rather just put a few more bucks into this one and keep it for a couple more months... before this, everything was fine... i had to get rid of the vats? system (wouldnt let me start the car), and i guess the guy that worked on it left this black thing with 039 0L07 near the windshield, also the thing that makes the noise when you leave the door open or lights on fell off (hit my boot one night)... so too many probs with this car... :/ ::sigh::, but it makes it from A to B!

thanks for reading/replying in advanced!

lol. If you're ever in that area again and your car breaks down, don't go back to those fools who "fixed" your car. That computer thing is your ignition module so it's supposed to be in the car, not on the windshield. They might've replaced it, probably with the wrong one. Engine won't run without a module. To avoid anymore headaches I would not spend anymore $$ on this car, unless I plan on dropping a V8 in it. Just too many problems it seems.

hehe, yeah... so it's the ignition module, i guess they replaced it to remove/bypass the security thing (this was a year ago before the major problems)... they prolly left the old one on that vent thing just under the windshield... i want to keep it around for at least 3-4 months tops, i dont mind the extra bucks...

The VATS system is a seperate system. Has nothing to do with the ignition module. Um the first thing I would do is check for obvious things under the hood like anything disconnected or something that don't look like it's supposed to be there.

BTW, that black noise thing is the audio alarm module. It won't cause any problems with the engine.
