What cam for carbed 355 with L98 (Vette) aluminum heads?
I've made search, but no answers. My question is, what cam You recommend to use in my engine (rebuilding in progress)? Engine specs:
1988 355cid (originally TPI)
Vette aluminum (113) D-port heads, pocket ported
CR 9.8:1
Holley 600cfm
dual plane intake
headers 1 5/8 primaries + free flow exhaust
hydrulic roller lifters
Does anyone have similar combo? Any hp, tq, mpg numbers? I'm planning to keep my car daily driver.
Thanks!

With the 305 carb and headers, you should keep the cam small to avoid the problem of having no flow whatsoever in the RPM range the cam wants the engine to run in.
I'd recommend something in the 218-220° intake duration range, with all the exhaust duration you can possibly get to help ovecome the handicap of the small headers. Something like a Comp XR270HR. You might even want to put 1.6 rockers on the exhaust at least. Note that even with 1.5 rockers this cam requires 1.45" valve springs, which require head machine work.

So You think, that headers and carb are too small for this heads? I've thought, that with these heads can I get ~350hp. That's why I plan use 600 carb and 1 5/8, which are OK for 350-375hp (Lingenfelter book).
My choices are now:
LPE 219 - too big?, quite expensive
LT4 Hot cam - too big?
some Copm Cams cam - 210-215 int. and 215-220 ex. dur.
What do You think abut these cams? Other choices?

yea well the 600 carb i wouldnt recomend for making 350-375... i would reccomend the 650 double pumper maybe even a 750 double pumper.... and a lunati special purpose roller series cam... you can find it in jegs... the grind id reccomend is 290/290 adv duration and .555/.555 lift...... with that cam u'll be rollin.
