LT1 or zz4 cam?
I can't decide which cam would be best for my peanut cammed 87 305 iroc..
The only things i need clarified is whether or not either will run well with the stock chip, and if the zz4 will need head work to fit?
basically, given the choice, what would you pick?
thanks!

i've got through removing the lt1 cam from my motor and installing the zz4. with the zz4 i know have a slightly shaky idle. it's throwing a lean code at idle. so i'm going to have to burn a chip to fix this. the lt1 cam i had no problems with. but you can put the zz4 cam in. they both would need head work to fit the springs to the heads. the springs are 1.32" diameter. the stock springs are 1.28" diameter. would need to enlarge the pockets.

you will NOT have to do anything to your heads if you install the LT1 cam or the ZZ4 cam. mmr23 is saying this because if you choose to run the better valvesprings for the ZZ4 cam then you will have to have the pockets opened up. I have the LT1 cam in my tpi motor and I didnt touch the heads. I am using the stock vlave srings that came on the engine from GMand it works perfect.

yes. i was assuming when he asked about head work, he meant for the springs. unless he really doesn't know the cam goes in the block.
