i have just taken all my engine parts to the engine builder,i started with a 1976 400ci 2 bolt ,its 0.040 over,,approx (409ci) ,and retains the original deck height,,its using dished pistons,cast rings, clevite hi vol oil pump,, clevite 77 bearings througout the cam is a mild comp cams xe 262h setup,,,with comp cams timing gear and chain setup ,comp cams lifters,,speed pro molly pushrods, Stock vortec heads,,pocket ported,,and thouroughly de bured (these are rough out of the box,,i was surprised) the valves were leaking from new out of the box,,,we lapped the valves in properly,,,and took all the rough edges out of the rim of the combustion chambers, ,,Ok,,comp cams 1.52 roller rockers,,,,edelbrock 2116 vortec intake,,,which will only run up to 5500rpm (this is not going to be raced),,its a street car, a regraphed HEI,,MSD 8.5 mm leads,,and a brand new 750 vacume holley,,,till i get the engine in and run in the car will be using the stock exhaust,(YUK),,,,soon as i get 300 miles on the motor ,,,i will be fitting 1.58 headers,,,and a big exhaust,,twin cat setup.THIS MOTOR HAS 8.7:1 COMP RATIO,,,and can run on any pump gas,,!!!!! YAHOO,,!!..like i mentioned this is mearly how i think GM should have built this car from new,,,,as its heavy,,, and the smog 305 was a dog,,,,,,,,,this new engine has no smog or emmision gear at all,,,,,the engine is going to be run just like an older camaro engine,,,67,68,,,,,69,, no emmision at all,,,,dying to see what this simple setup will run like,,,,,,the car will run a th700r4 and a 3.44:1 10 bolt possi,,,,will it go,,,,,curiouse,,,dying to find out,,,, this car is in Australia,,,,,RH drive,,,steve

 

You should be looking at 350-360hp. @5000 and 420-430 lbs/ft tq.@3500.
