Uh oh, leaf fragments inside engine!

Hey guys,
I was replacing my distributor today, and i pulled the old one out, and somehow when removing it leaf fragments went into the hole, and are stuck there because of the oil soaking it up. When the car gets running again will this cause trouble or will the filter catch them? They are very small fragments, but I ain't tryin to have my seals blow out or something, let me know what you think I should do to get them out, if it is even a big deal.

i personaly wouldn't worry about it. i dont see how they can do any real damage. i would think they would get broken down to small pieces and get caught in the filter or burned up.. leaves are soft so i wouldn't worry. exactly how much fell down though

I agree. As long as you didn't get enough to plug something up, I doubt a few pieces of a leaf are going to cause any problems. Not unless it was a maple leaf, of course.

funny you should say that.... i just put in a new distributor and a leaf or 2 got in there... seems to be running fine .... have had it running for about 2 hours total time..... i guess i'll find out if they got trapped in the filter when i change my oil sometime this week.

Yeah they'll pretty much disintegrate under the conditions of heat and all that inside the engine... about like cork gaskets. Nothing to worry about.

...After all, what are cork gaskets? Tree bark and pine tar? Really high tech stuff, eh?

When I first saw the thread, I thought you might have been talking about getting leaves ingested through the intake. That can happen if you do this:

Yea guys, it was two very small pieces of leaf, they are thin too, just lookin out for the old LH0 V6, on the other hand, there is a little bit of "gunk" down there, makes me wonder (I know its normal but can it damage?
