Starting problem - Still

Here's the deal. I get in the car and turn the key, one click, car does not start. The radio comes on, lights are nice and bright.

I have to turn the key to start 4-5 times rapidly, then it fires right up. I replaced the starter/selenoid and still have the problem.

Any ideas?? Is there a relay somewhere that I might check??

Thanks

Troy

717,

There in a start enable relay above/behind the kick panel trim in the driver's footwell. That is a possibility. You might also have a problem with the ignition switch linkage. If you have a tilt column, try starting with the column adjusted in the lowest position. This seems to take some of the slack out of the linkage rods. You might also try sttarting in NEUTRAL instead of PARK, in case the neutral safety switch is failing. And you should make sure the VATS system is working. Observe the SECURITY lamp on the dash when you first turn the ignition ON. If should turn on and flash several times.

Thanks Vader I have tried some of those things:
My car will not turn over in Neutral, nor even click, The security light does not stay on, so that I am sure is not it, but I will try the Steering tilt deal.

Vader, wanted to update you that I tried starting in neutral and adjusting the steering column. Neither helped.

It sounds like it's time to break out your handy voltmeter. Begin at the starter solenoid 'S' terminal and work your way back from there toward the ignition switch. The switch is mounted on top of the outer jacket of the steering column, near the lower end of the column.

I was afraid that was going to have to happen, 1 week before Winternationals in Orlando and I got to tear into it..

And what would be the minimum voltage at any point in the chain?? Below 11?

You should get clean battery voltage (at least 12.6) everywhere in the circuit.
