nasty soundin exhaust

quick question:
if there is an obvious exhaust leak coming from the front side of the car would the chances favor it being the collector, or the header gasket to the head leaking?? I just don't wanna go torkin down header bolts and breaking one. I just can't tell from under the hood if it's the collector or not... Please help!

Get a piece of heater hose, use it as a stethoscope; stick one end in your ear, probe aound with the other end, you should be able to pinpoint the source of the noise.
