GM has a HT383 crate motor, you might be able to get it shorty style. It features a 4.0"bore and 3.80" stroke.

The GM 383 short block is a waste of money $3175 for $700 more you get the whole engine and sell off the stuff you dont need.I also looked for 383 short block the best price with brand name parts was wheeler motorsports. But I with just went with stroking my 350 I had it saved a couple bucks and got the parts I wanted.Watch out for cheap cranks and rods some places use.****Im not saying the gm383 is bad its just not worth buying it as the short block.

I think the HT383 uses a Cola crank. I know they use PM rods and other high quality things.

I got what I thought was a great price for a 383 shortblock from Precision Engine Rebuilders in Houston. I posted some questions regarding these folks and got the highest praise from two different people in the Houston area. I was quoted: 383 stroker, 87+ roller block supplied by him (.030 or .040, he couldn't guarantee .030), Eagle 1 pc rear main cast crank & SIR rods, KB hyper pistons, fully balanced & ready to use with LT1 flywheel (I'm using a T-56). 12mo/unlimited mileage warranty. The warranty was based on no obvious signs of abuse and offered on a case-by-case basis as I interpreted it. $1699 + 155 shipping. I was going to buy this but found a much better deal on a fresh 406 ! Just picked it up yesterday...

Here is their contact info:
