Do I need to do a compression test?

Ok, here's the situation. I got my car in august of '01 or around there... it's been so long, lol. Did the tune up and what not, fixed some things, and the car runs stronger then ever. Drove from Oklahoma Cit, Ok to St. Louis, MO and back... ran great, got about 24 mpg or so on the highway. Didn't burn any oil at all. I asked my dad if we should do a compression test on it, and my dad just said that it ran great and that it was good enough we didn't need to do a compression test on it.

So basically, do you think it needs one or not? I'd need to go and buy the stuff for it, after the tornado we lost all our tools and what not... so I don't have the stuff to do it right now...

Any opinions are appreciated, thanks.

Dude!

You've just survived a tornado, and are worried about performing a compression test on an otherwise decent-running engine?

That would be WAY down on my list of priorities...

Lol, noooooo, I was in a tornado a few years ago and still don't have many essential tools: timing gun, compression testing set, all that what not... I got my car after the tornado.

Anyway... do you think it needs the test done?

Why do you think it needs a compression test? I say you don't need on if it runs good.
