A.I.R. components

OK, I've read a lot about the AIR system, but which components do what? ...under the hood I mean? I see pics with and without, and I think I end up getting misinformed. Just for the learning curve, I'd like to know what parts are what. there's all the tubing and emmisions crap on that side there, I just wasn't sure which is which.

Anyone have pics?

You have the pump driven by the belt that directs air to the manifolds and catatylic converter via metal tubes. The air diverter valve on top of the passenger side valve cover is controlled by the ECM. The ECM opens the valve for air to the manifolds during open loop, and the valve for air to the cat during closed loop.

Oxygen combined with unburned fuel in the exhaust = less emissions.

Those are the major components. There are also check valves for each manifold that prevent exhaust gasses from flowing back through the plumbing and melting the diverter valve or damaging the pump. The diverter valve also vents the pump output on deceleration.
