3.1 cam/rocker/timing/etc.........

sorry i did search but just way way way too many files to read through and most of them were for the 2.8 not the 3.1

ok so i'm going ready to start ordering some new parts and i'm looking at a Jeg's & submitt cat's now but they really don't give much info on them

ok so here what i'm thinking so far

(the car is going to be off the road for a while so i figured i'd stock up on parts over the next month and just do it all at once)

a clotes timing chain and cover
cam
roller rockers
value springs
performance pulleys
value covers
water pump
distributor
coil
ignition
fule injectors and regulator
and a new catco cat (b/c i melted the inside of the other one)

ok now for all the above items are there any particular brands you'd i should use and if so do you have and part numbers and ruff prices ?????

also is there anything that i've missed that i might want to change / upgrade while i'm at it??????

as of right now the car hase 130,000 miles

but heres the catch
i still need my car to pass New York State emissions

THANKS AGAIN

Don't ignore the information on the 2.8. The 2.8 and 3.1 are virtually identical, aside from the obvious fact that the 3.1 is slightly larger (I'm not sure if it just has a longer stroke crank). Have you checked to make sure all of those parts are available for that engine? GM dealers sell a book on how to improve the performance of various Chevy engines, including that little V6 (I just blanked on the name of of the book; I'll edit this response when I snap out of it). Check also the GM Performance Parts Catalog (available online at something like spoperperformanceparts.com) Both of those can provide you with info on upgrade parts. BTW, somebody used to make an adapter to bolt Webers to a fuel injection intake base (!) (And no, you definitely won't pass smog with a set of Webers).
I know it is possible to adapt some big block rocker arms to the 3.1, for instance, but beyond that, the upgrade parts for the 3.1 are limited. You may have more luck posting this question on the V6 board.
Oh, one other thing, if you truly want to get carried away, GM makes an all aluminum block for that engine, but it is definitely pricey.

If you are looking for lots of power gains, then in all honesty I would go with a V8 instead, but if you really want that V6 under the hood, then don't forget a port job on the heads and intake.
maybe a dual plane intake for that engine would help them out... I know summit sells an aftermaket intake for the camaro 2.8, and I'm almost 100% positive it's dimensions are the same as the 3.1.
